As you’ve likely heard, the Wii U’s Gamepad will lose some of it’s juice after approximately 500 recharges. This likely had some concerned as there will be no lone Gamepads available on the market for some time and who wants to have to send their Gamepad away for a battery replacement. Worry not! It seems Nintendo has opted to allow consumers to have the ability to swap batteries. You can use your own household screw driver to open up the battery casing on the back. There is no word on whether batteries will be available through retail, but Nintendo’s customer service will gladly help I’m sure. This opens up a few options. Now you could have an extra battery on standby if you didn’t want to have to put your controller down, it also means third parties may have new longer lasting battery options available.
